Why abandoned puppy tied to fire hydrant. When rescuers found Cici, an 8-month-old puppy left tied to a fire hydrant on a street corner in Southern California, she was so emotionally shut down that she couldn’t even lift her head. Curled up tightly in a ball, the little dog looked as if she had already given up.
But her story was far from over.
Left Alone with Food She Couldn’t Touch

Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy dog rescue, received the heartbreaking call about a tiny, abandoned dog who’d been left on the side of the street with a container of food and water. But what truly devastated Hall was that the dog hadn’t touched either.
“She was just curled into herself,” Hall said. “Too scared, too sad to move.”
Suzette had rescued several dogs from the same area before, a hotspot for pet abandonment. She wanted to rush to Cici’s aid herself — but time was running out.
A Neighborhood Angel Steps In for Abandoned Puppy Tied to Fire Hydrant
Unable to get there quickly, Hall called a trusted local resident for immediate help.
“I reached out to a woman I know in that neighborhood and begged her to get there fast,” Hall explained.
The neighbor dropped everything. When she arrived, she found the tiny tan puppy twisting helplessly around the hydrant, her leash tangled.
“She was tied up so tight,” Hall said. “Just going in circles, like she didn’t know what to do.”
Cici was quickly freed and taken to Camino Pet Hospital, where her healing journey began.
Healing Through Love and Care
At the clinic, Cici received fluids and much-needed medical attention. Slowly but surely, her spirit began to return.
“They monitored her for a while,” Hall said. “Then out of nowhere, she started wagging her tail. That was the moment we knew she was going to be okay.”
Among all the hospital staff, one person stood out to Cici: Hedy Herold, the office manager at Camino Pet Hospital.
“Every time Hedy walks by, Cici lights up,” Hall shared. “She gets so excited, wiggling her tail like crazy.”
Since then, Cici has spent nearly every day curled up in Hedy’s arms, soaking up affection and gaining back her trust in people.
From Abandoned to Adored

After weeks of recovery and emotional support, Cici has finally been cleared for foster care. She’ll soon leave the clinic to begin her next chapter in a warm, safe home — and while her foster family will offer her a fresh start, she’s still searching for her forever kind of love.
Suzette Hall is confident that the perfect adoptive family is out there.
“It’s amazing how far she’s come,” Hall said. “She’s just so happy now. Sweet, gentle, and full of life.”
A New Future for Cici — and a Reminder for Us All
What started as a tragic case of neglect is turning into a story of resilience, love, and hope. From being too sad to move to wiggling with joy, Cici’s transformation shows just how powerful kindness can be.
If you believe in second chances and happy endings, consider fostering or adopting a dog in need — because every dog deserves to be seen, saved, and loved.
