Abandoned with a Heartbreaking Note: Lost Dog Found Hiding in Fear After Losing His Family

A Surprising Discovery of a Lost Dog.

In the quiet town of Bridgend, South Wales, three cyclists came across a small lost dog. The dog was terrified and hiding in some undergrowth. The pup, later named Chase, had been running the streets after losing his family. Thankfully, the cyclists took a detour. They brought him to Hope Rescue. This is where the true extent of his heartbreaking situation unfolded.

A Heartbreaking Note Left on His Collar

While inspecting Chase, the rescuers found a handwritten note. It was taped to his collar inside a plastic bag. The note explained that Chase’s owner could no longer care for him. It pleaded for help in finding him a new home.

Lost Dog on the Rise

Sadly, Hope Rescue has seen an increase in abandonment cases like Chase’s. “He arrived during the busiest month in our 19-year history. In August alone, 157 dogs came through our doors,” said Sara Rosser, head of operations at Hope Rescue. “We were heartbroken to see him so scared. While we understand owners sometimes face desperate situations, this wasn’t the right way to abandon a pet.”

Chase’s Journey to Trust and Recovery

Initially, the lost dog Chase was traumatized. He refused to eat or interact with staff and barely moved, but with gentle care and the companionship of some new dog friends, Chase began to trust again.“We had an excellent foster home willing to take him. He has really started to show his personality,” shared Rosser. “He’s learning from his foster family’s two confident dogs, enjoys paddling in water, and loves snuggling at night.”

A Bright Future for Chase

Day by day, Chase is adjusting to his foster home and gaining confidence. As he opens up, his new family believes he may already be home for good.
“Chase’s future is looking bright,” said Rosser. “After the trauma of being abandoned, we are thrilled he has found a family that understands him. They can help him blossom into the happy dog he deserves to be.”
