In a heartwarming twist that’s captivating dog lovers everywhere, a tiny 9-year-old Chihuahua named Tink has become an unexpected internet sensation. Recently rescued by Skiatook Paws and Claws Animal Rescue (SPACAR), this hamster-sized senior pup is proving that age and health challenges can’t dim a sparkling personality.
A Small Dog with a Big Personality
When Tink first arrived at SPACAR, staff and volunteers immediately noticed two things: her incredibly petite size and her age. A veterinary checkup confirmed their hunch — Tink is around 9 years old, has no teeth, and lives with a heart condition. But none of that has slowed her down.
Despite her senior status and medical issues, Tink has shown she’s no frail or timid lap dog. “Tink has got some spicy spunkiness and we love to see it,” SPACAR shared in a viral Instagram post.
Living Life on Her Terms
Since being placed in foster care, Tink has made her preferences crystal clear. She’s fiercely independent, enjoys her space, and isn’t interested in snuggles or fuss. Her foster mom describes her as a classic “granny Chihuahua” — set in her ways, full of attitude, and totally content to march to her own beat.
“She just wants to exist at someone’s house and do whatever she wants,” said SPACAR staffer Bodden.
Viral Fame for a Senior Rescue Dog
To help Tink find a forever home, Bodden shared a brutally honest post on SPACAR’s Instagram. The caption read:
“She is 9 years old. She has no teeth. She has a heart murmur. And she is an absolute menace.”
The internet fell in love.
The post quickly went viral, racking up over 14,000 likes and hundreds of comments from adoring fans. One follower wrote, “Not to be dramatic, but I would do anything for Tink.”
Adoption Requests Flood In
The response to Tink’s post was overwhelming. Bodden reported receiving over 207 adoption applications — a staggering number for any rescue dog, especially a senior with medical needs.
Once Tink receives proper treatment for her heart condition, SPACAR plans to place her with the perfect forever family — one that can provide a calm environment and lifelong veterinary care.
A Win for Senior Dog Adoption
Tink’s story is a refreshing reminder that older rescue dogs can capture hearts just as easily as playful puppies. With her sassy attitude and undeniable charm, this tiny Chihuahua has become a symbol of why senior pets deserve just as much love and attention.
“She’s a crotchety old Chihuahua,” Bodden joked. “I had no idea that everybody would just fall head over heels for her.”
