Puppy Returned To Shelter For Fifth Time Begs Visitors To Adopt Him For Good

When the Valley Animal Center (VAC) staff first welcomed Jodi, a tiny Chihuahua mix puppy, they were hopeful he’d find a home soon. Sure, he was bursting with typical puppy energy, but Jodi’s adorable face and warm demeanor made him an ideal candidate for adoption.

It wasn’t long before a family applied to adopt Jodi, and the staff happily waved goodbye to the sweet pup as he left for his new home. But a few weeks later, Jodi’s family returned the pup to the shelter, claiming he was too hyperactive.

The staff was heartbroken for Jodi but not discouraged. They welcomed him back into the shelter with open arms and posted another adoption advertisement. Soon enough, a second family showed interest in adopting Jodi and swiftly arrived to scoop him up.

The staff waved goodbye to Jodi again, hopeful that this would be his perfect match. But they were devastated when, weeks later, Jodi’s new family relinquished him back to the shelter, claiming he did not do well with kids.

Jodi was saddened and confused by the change. He only wanted a family to love, but no one seemed to love him back. Still, he waited, and his friends at the shelter assured him that the right family would come.

“[I]t’s not his fault!” VAC wrote on Facebook. “Jodi is a sweet boy who loves to run and play in a nice-sized yard. He’s still at the perfect age to learn and thrive with a little training.”

After his second time being returned, a few more families showed interest in Jodi. His third chance at love soon arrived, and he happily went home with a promising family. Then, his family found out they had to move and couldn’t take Jodi with them — so he unfortunately returned to the shelter a third time.

As much as they loved having Jodi around, the staff at VAC was determined to find him a stable home once and for all. Their hopes were ignited when a new couple arrived and adopted Jodi for the fourth time, then crushed when the pup returned a few weeks later.

At the end of last year, a fifth family stepped in to adopt Jodi. They cradled the sweet pup as they walked out the door, and the staff was sure they were waving goodbye for the final time. But tragically, Jodi returned to the shelter for the fifth time a few weeks ago, and he’s been there ever since.

“Jodi’s journey has been tough. [He’s] ‘too active,’ [he] ‘didn’t do well with kids,’ [his] owners moved, [his] owners had no time [and his new owners] moved again,” VAC wrote on Facebook. “Through it all, he’s still searching for his forever home.”

Jodi is still at VAC today, desperately waiting for his happily-ever-after. The staff knows Jodi’s perfect family is out there — one who will be patient and understanding with him — and they hope to find them soon.

Until then, Jodi will remain at VAC, hoping someone will adopt him for good one day.

“Could you be the one to give him the love he deserves?” VAC wrote.
