UK Police Launch International Manhunt After Woman Found Dead in Car Boot

Body of 24-Year-Old Harshita Brella Discovered in Ilford

Police in the UK are searching internationally for a man. He is suspected of killing his wife, Harshita Brella. Her body was found in the boot of a car in East London. The 24-year-old’s body was found on Brisbane Road in Ilford. It was discovered on Thursday, 14 November. This prompted the launch of a murder investigation.

Harshita Brella, a resident of Corby, was reported missing just one day prior by a concerned member of the public. Authorities visited her home on Skegness Walk but found no one present.

Prime Suspect: Harshita’s Husband, Pankaj Lamba

Northamptonshire Police have named Pankaj Lamba, Harshita’s husband, as the prime suspect in her murder. At a press conference in Kettering, Chief Inspector Paul Cash stated:

“Inquiries lead us to suspect that Harshita was murdered in Northamptonshire earlier this month by her husband, Pankaj Lamba. We believe Lamba transported Harshita’s body from Northamptonshire to Ilford by car and has since fled the country.”

Over 60 detectives are leading the investigation. They are appealing to the public for any information regarding the case.

Domestic Violence Allegations and Legal Background

Police have revealed that Harshita had been a victim of domestic violence. In September, she was granted a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) by Northampton Magistrates’ Court. The order barred the individual responsible for the violence from contacting her, visiting her workplace, or threatening her.

Despite the order, no formal charges were filed, and the suspect was released after being required to pay full costs.

Missing Person Report Leads to Tragic Discovery

The missing person investigation quickly escalated when police found Harshita’s body hidden in the boot of a car. This grim discovery has intensified efforts to locate Pankaj Lamba, who remains at large.

Police Appeal for Public Assistance

Chief Inspector Cash has urged anyone with information to come forward, regardless of how insignificant it may seem:

“If you saw anything suspicious in the past week or have any information, no matter how small, please contact us. We would always rather receive well-meaning information that turns out to be nothing than miss a critical detail.”

How to Report Information

  • Call police on 101, quoting Operation Westcott.
  • Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
  • Information can also be submitted online via mipp.police.uk.

Public Reassurance Measures

To reassure the community, extra police patrols are being conducted in Corby. However, officers have confirmed that there is no wider risk to public safety at this time.
