Woman Finds Wet Dog Near River — Then Discovers Anchor Tied Around His Neck

What started as a quiet drive along a river near her home in Lithuania turned into a rescue mission for Audra Petraškienė, who spotted something unusual on the roadside: a soaking wet dog, trembling and alone.

She stopped the car—and that’s when she noticed the horrifying truth. The dog had an anchor tied around his neck. It was clear he had narrowly survived a deliberate drowning attempt.

Cruelty Almost Took His Life — But He Survived

It’s still a mystery how the poor dog managed to escape the anchor’s weight in the water, but one thing is certain: his will to live was stronger than any evil act.

“He’s a real fighter,” said Petraškienė’s daughter, Andra.

Without hesitation, Petraškienė took the dog home. She gently removed the heavy metal from around his neck, dried his waterlogged coat, and rushed him to the vet for a medical checkup.

Recovering in Safe Hands — And Justice in Progress

Miraculously, the dog was not seriously injured. He is now resting and recovering under Petraškienė’s loving care.

Petraškienė has also reported the incident to local authorities. She hopes that the person responsible will be held accountable for this cruel act.

“She will definitely do what’s best for this dog,” Andra added.

From Near-Death to New Hope

The identity of whoever committed this horrific act remains unknown. But one thing is crystal clear—Petraškienė’s compassion turned a potential tragedy into a second chance at life.

“I’m very proud of her,” Andra said of her mother. “She loves animals and always takes care of them.”

Now safe and surrounded by kindness, this brave dog found with an anchor around his neck is finally learning what love feels like.
