A heartwarming story of compassion unfolded in Chino Hills, California. Stephanie Castillo made an unexpected discovery during a routine errand. She passed by Priceless Pet Rescue and saw seven dogs crammed into a tiny cage. They were abandoned outside the closed shelter.
“I knew I had to do something, anything,” Castillo shared, describing the moment her stomach sank upon seeing the dogs.
A Desperate Situation The dogs had been left outside, panting and sitting in their own filth. Among them was a blind senior dog, clearly in distress. With the shelter closed and no immediate help available, Castillo took action. She contacted her local humane society, but they warned it might take hours for them to arrive.
Fearing the situation would worsen in the heat, Castillo made the brave decision to take the dogs home herself.
A Heroic Rescue Once at home, Castillo gave the dogs the immediate care they desperately needed. The poor pups were starving, dehydrated, and scared, but finally, they were safe. “They looked like they had been through a lot,” she said.
Soon after, the humane society arrived to take the dogs, ensuring they received medical attention and vaccinations. The dogs were then transferred to Priceless Pet Rescue’s Costa Mesa location, where they began their journey to recovery.
Adoption Awaits The seven dogs are now named Hal, Reese, Dewey, Francis, Malcolm, Lois, and Rudy. They are available for adoption at the rescue. Despite their ordeal, their spirits remain unbroken, according to the rescue’s website.
So far, two of the dogs have found their forever homes. The remaining five are still waiting for loving families. “They truly deserve the world,” Castillo said, hopeful for their future.
