When Woody was first discovered, he lay crumpled and helpless on the side of the road — discarded like he meant nothing. His cart and tack were stripped away, and those who once claimed to “own” him had vanished into the distance, leaving him behind to face death alone.
But fate had other plans.
🐴 A Call for Help: “He Was Left There to Die”
In October 2022, the team at My Lovely Horse Rescue received a call that would forever change one horse’s destiny. A passerby had found Woody — starving, collapsed, and barely clinging to life. The scene that rescuers walked into was nothing short of heartbreaking.
“It was an awful scene,” the rescue wrote on Facebook. “And heart-breaking.”
But even in his weakest state, Woody’s spirit hadn’t given up. Neither did the rescuers.

Rescuers gently lifted Woody from the ground and transported him to safety. What followed was a labor of love — weeks of care, nourishment, and emotional healing. Slowly, Woody began to regain strength. His eyes, once filled with fear and exhaustion, began to shine again.
By December 2022, just two months later, Woody had not only survived — he had transformed. He was healthy, hopeful, and ready to start a new chapter.

That’s when Orianna stepped into his life. When she met Woody for the first time, it wasn’t just a visit — it was a connection.
“It was love at first sight,” the rescue said.
She saw past his past. She saw his heart, his spirit, and his potential.
Orianna didn’t just give Woody a home — she gave him a purpose.
🏆 From Rescue to Ribbon: Woody Shines in the Show Ring
Renamed “Fire Cracker”, Woody’s spark was undeniable. Under Orianna’s loving care, he began training and growing into the magnificent pony he was born to be.
Then came the Cork Summer Show — one of Ireland’s most prestigious events, with over 60,000 attendees this year alone.
Competing in the IN HAND RESCUE PONY class — a special category honoring rescue ponies — Woody and Orianna trotted into the ring with pride. When the results were announced, their hearts skipped a beat.
Second Place. Out of dozens of contenders, Woody, the horse once left for dead, now stood tall on a winner’s podium.
