Former MLB star Alex Rodriguez, who faced his own controversy during his career, expressed his heartbreak over Rose’s passing. Rodriguez shared a video clip from their time together on Fox Sports. In the clip, Rose broke down the technique behind his famous swing.

“Absolutely heartbroken to hear the devastating news about Pete Rose’s Death,” Rodriguez wrote. “He always brought a smile to my face when we worked together at Fox. He was a true original and one of a kind. Nobody loved baseball more than Pete, and I’ll miss him terribly.”

Baseball Community Pays Their Respects

Other baseball greats, including Hall of Famer Wade Boggs, shared their memories of Rose. “Words can’t describe how I feel right now. My Idol and friend growing up, wanting to be Pete Rose,” Boggs posted. “You’ll be dearly missed, my friend. RIP my Brother.”

Rose spent 19 of his 24 MLB seasons with the Cincinnati Reds. He not only played but also managed the team after his playing days. The Reds honored Rose with a heartfelt message on social media. Major League Baseball also released a statement. This occurred despite the decades-long rift between the two parties.

“Major League Baseball extends its deepest condolences to Pete Rose’s family. It also offers condolences to his friends across the game. The fans of his hometown of Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Montreal, and beyond are also included. They admired his greatness, grit, and determination on the field. May he rest in peace.”
