Coastal Flooding Hits NYC: High Tide Brings Flood Alerts for Queens and Bronx

New York City faced significant coastal flooding on Friday afternoon, with floodwaters rising in Howard Beach, Queens. The NYC Office of Emergency Management has issued a warning. They stated that it extend to other parts of the city. This includes the Bronx.

As high tide recedes in Queens, officials expect flood levels to rise in the Bronx within the next few hours. Although no major disruptions have been reported, a Coastal Flooding Travel Advisory remains in place. The city’s Office of Emergency Management shared updates on social media, alerting residents to stay cautious during high tide.

A Coastal Flood Warning is currently active for moderate flooding in Queens, the Bronx, and nearby regions such as Fairfield, Nassau, and Westchester counties. This warning will continue until Saturday evening. Minor flooding alerts are also in effect across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, urging coastal residents to stay prepared.

City authorities have attributed the higher-than-normal tides to the influence of this week’s full moon.
