How Hawk Rescued: In August, a game warden in Pennsylvania answered an urgent call about a trapped animal on a local farm. Upon arriving, the warden discovered a distressed red-tailed hawk stuck deep in a manure pit. Covered in muck, the bird was in desperate need of help.
The game warden carefully retrieved the hawk and rushed her to Raven Ridge Wildlife Center, a haven for wildlife rehabilitation. The experts at Raven Ridge knew time was critical, and they were prepared to act fast.

After a few days of rest in quarantine, it was time for the delicate task of cleaning the hawk’s feathers. Rescuers gently bathed her, removing the manure while administering pain relief, fluids, and antibiotics. The bird also received much-needed food, which she ate eagerly.

Within just 24 hours of care, the hawk’s transformation was astonishing. Her once dull, muck-covered feathers regained their shine, and her energy returned.
“The transformation we witnessed in just one day was nothing short of miraculous,” Raven Ridge shared in a Facebook post. “The once weary bird was now full of life and beauty.”
Soon, the hawk was strong enough to be released back into the wild. As she soared away into the sky, Tracie Young reflected on the journey.
“You always hope they understand that what we did was for their own good,” Young said. “It was all to see them fly free again.”
