Sofia Vergara, renowned for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on Modern Family, has been labeled as the ‘rudest celebrity’ encountered by one of her co-stars.
The 52-year-old actress, who shared the screen with Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Sarah Hyland, and Nolan Gould, received acclaim for her performance in the popular sitcom. However, not everyone was impressed by her off-screen behavior.
Kelly Mantle, who appeared as a guest star in the 2019 Modern Family episode ‘The Last Halloween’ as a drag queen, shared her less-than-ideal experience with Vergara.
During an appearance on The Bald and the Beautiful podcast with Trixie and Katya, Mantle described Vergara as the ‘rudest celebrity’ she has come across, citing issues with a wig and her treatment of staff.
“It was not the most pleasant experience I’ve ever experienced. It wasn’t toward me. It was the way that some of her staff were being treated,” Mantle explained.
She mentioned an incident involving a wig during filming: “In the episode, she’s wearing a wig, and they kept wanting to put bobby pins in it, and she kept telling them no bobby pins.”
During a scene with Vergara, Mantle said things didn’t go smoothly. “They yell action, and I’m supposed to put the crown on her hair. So I put the crown on, and then they say cut, and she’s like, ‘Watch out for the wig! You’re putting the crown on my head!’” Mantle recounted.
Despite the less-than-ideal experience, Mantle acknowledged that it might have been an off day for Vergara. “Maybe it was a bad day. I’m just going to say it was a bad day. Because she’s hilarious, and beautiful, and talented, and gorgeous. I’m sure it was a bad day,” she added on the podcast.

This incident comes after Vergara made headlines with her reaction to losing a Golden Globe to Jodie Foster, which became a viral moment.
As Foster accepted her award for Best TV Actress on stage, Vergara was overheard exclaiming from the audience: “No, no! Not again! Give me one!”
A body language expert analyzed Vergara’s reaction, which sparked significant online discussion.
Darren Stanton, speaking for Betfair Casino, commented: “Jodie Foster and Sofia Vergara shared mutual laugh during ‘light-hearted’ heckling.”
“Jodie Foster being heckled by Sofia is quite interesting,” Stanton noted. “You’ve got Vergara who lost out, and Jodie’s a tough cookie. We didn’t see the classic signs of contempt, but what we did see is duper’s delight, which is when someone feels they’ve got away with something.”
“Because Jodie knows her position in Hollywood, she flashes this big smile, it more or less signifies her position as a Hollywood megastar,” he concluded.
