As every Game of Thrones fan knows, winter was coming for a long, long time. The Night King and his white walkers came and went, and everyone lived happily ever after. Well, not everyone… most characters met their maker! But what happened to the cast of the most successful show ever made? Let’s find out which of the cast members lived happily ever after and which were doomed…

Sean Bean – Then

Yorkshire’s finest son, Sean Bean, was born in Sheffield in 1959. He shot to fame in the 1990s on TV as Napoleonic wartime hero Richard Sharpe and became a famous face in Hollywood. His character Alec Trevelyan battled 007 James Bond in Goldeneye.

Sean’s most famous role was playing Boromir in The Fellowship of the Ring. However, Boromir didn’t last long as, after trying to take the ring from Fordo, he was taken down by orcs while protecting the Hobbits.

Sean Bean – Now

Sean Bean lasted about the same time as Ned Stark as he did Boromir. Joffrey Baratheon had the Head of House Stark beheaded after just nine episodes! Since losing his head in season one, Bean has appeared in Silent Hill: Revelation, Possessor, and aided Matt Damon’s stranded astronaut in The Martian.

The screen legend’s recent television credits include Legends, The Frankenstein Chronicles, Snowpiercer, and the BBC’s prison series Time — for which he won the British Academy Television Award as Leading Actor.

Isaac Hempstead Wright – Then

Isaac Hempstead Wright was born in 1999 in Surrey, England. As a boy, he took acting classes to avoid playing soccer on cold British mornings! At a young age, Wright became interested in acting and joined a drama club to overcome his shyness. His passion for acting raised its head, and he started auditioning for roles.

Isaac’s big break came aged 10 when producers cast him as Bran Stark. His character was a blind warg and Three-Eyed Raven who possessed supernatural gifts.

Isaac Hempstead Wright – Now

Surprising every Game of Thrones fan, Bran Stark eventually won the Iron Throne (well, it was actually destroyed by Drogon’s dragon fire breath) to be crowned as the King of the Seven Kingdoms (well, it’s actually Six Kingdoms now!) Isaac dropped out of the University of Birmingham to focus on acting, but that didn’t go too well…

In 2019, the secular humanist and Harry Potter look-a-like returned to study neuroscience, saying he intended to continue acting while doing so. He last appeared in 2021’s Voyagers.

Albus Dumbledore – Michael Gambon

Sir Michael John Gambon played the role of Professor Albus Dumbledore in the last few Harry Potter movies. He played the legendarily powerful wizard with a keen mind and kind heart to perfection. To see what he looks like under the long white mane and beard, the British-Irish actor can be found in The King’s Speech, Fortitude, Judy, and Cordelia. He looks so different when he’s shaved. He is now playing in a movie about James Joyce called James and Lucia.

Petunia Dursley – Fiona Shaw

Irish actress Fiona Shaw played Aunt Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter movies. She expertly elicited profound dislike by mistreating her nephew Harry Potter, who she loathed because he came from the magical world that she could not be a part of. Her sensational performances in Killing Eve, which won her a BAFTA, and in Fleabag have collected her many new fans and gotten her two Emmy nominations.

Professor Flitwick – Warwick Davis

English actor Warwick Davis sounds like a wizard himself, but he was named Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter movies, playing the Charms Master of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He has starred as an Ewok in Return of the Jedi and as a leprechaun in the Leprechaun film series. Born with a rare form of dwarfism, Warwick Davis went on to create talent agency Willow Management to ensure that actors under five feet were properly represented.

Sirius Black – Gary Oldman

Sirius Black was played by Gary Oldman, a fearful wizard with a tortured past due to the years he spent in Azkaban, the wizarding prison. He has starred in more than 50 movies. No one really knows what Gary Oldman looks like because he’s so great at transforming his appearance to resemble the character he is portraying. Notable examples include his villainous portrayals in True Romance, The Fifth Element, Air Force One, The Contender, and Léon: The Professional. Can we add Sirius Black to that list?

Bill Weasley – Domhnall Gleeson

Domhnall Gleeson might only be in his 30s, but the Irish actor already has several award-winning films under his belt. Of course, he gained worldwide recognition as Bill Weasley, the oldest, coolest and most attractive of the Weasley siblings. He’s also starred in About Time, Anna Karenina, Never Let Me Go, Frank and Unbroken, to name but a few. This year, he is starring in the comedy series Run. Although he has been named as one of Ireland’s greatest actors, he might still feel overshadowed by his father, actor Brendan Gleeson.

Barty Crouch Jr. – David Tennant

David Tennant needs no introduction if you’re a Doctor Who fan, but did you know that he played the villainous Barty Crouch Jr. in the Harry Potter movies? If you don’t remember, Barty Crouch Jr. was a Death Eater who disguised himself as Alastor Moody to lure Harry Potter to his demise. Another villain the Scottish actor is famous for is Kilgrave in Marvel’s Jessica Jones, which is about a fictional superhero. He has also starred in Broadchurch, where he plays police detective Alec Hardy.
